Skeletal System Definition

Joint Dislocation - the internetwork of bones and joints that work together to make up the core foundation of our bodies. Adult human skeleton consists of 206 bones (208 if the sternum is considered as three bones).

Feet and Legs

The legs are made up of big long bones at the length of the legs and small bones around the ankles and feet

The ankles have many tiny bones (Tarsal bones)
  • Calcaneus (heel)
  • Talus
  • Navicular bone
  • Medial cuneiform bone
  • Intermediate cuneiform bone
  • Lateral cuneiform bone
  • Cuboid bone
  • Metatarsus bones connect the heel to the digits of the feet and the digits of the feet (phalanges) are:

    Hips, Back and Neck and Ribs

    The neck and throat bone is called the Hyoid bone. There are ribs protect our front sides with 6 ribs on each side, In the pelvis (hips):

    In the vertebral column is divided into 4 parts: The sternum is the breast bone and be considered as three bones: manubrium, body of sternum (gladiolus), and xiphoid.

    Shoulders, Arms and Hands

    The shoulder is made up of 2 bones on each side: scapula (shoulder blade) and the clavicle which connects the shoulder to the neck area. The arm bone is the Humerus and the forearms have two bones: Radius and the Ulna.

    The hands have many small bones

    Skull and Face

    The skull is made up of 8 bones called the Cranal Bones (skull bones)

    The face is made up of 14 bones: Believe it or not, there are even three bones in each ear
